At Stony Brook Medicine, a Senior Programmer Analyst/Application Specialist is a valuable member of our team, who will develop and support all clinical systems that the department is responsible for. The incumbent may be assigned to a project team as part of technical build resource, or support any production systems to ensure the availability of the applications. The Senior Programmer/Analyst may also oversee the work of Lead Programmer/Analyst as needed.
The Senior Programmer/Analyst will be responsible for investigating and resolving Cerner application issues using core Cerner tools such as Bedrock, Discern, Core Code Builder, Core Event Manager, and Ops View Scheduler. Daily responsibilities will include researching and building new functionality as needed, working with clinical end users and the vendor to determine the best and most innovative solutions. They will also be responsible for building Cerner interfaces and investigating Cerner Interface issues.

Duties may include the following but are not limited to:
Required: Minimum four (4) years of IT experience in a complex database environment, preferably in healthcare in an academic medical centers or tertiary care setting. Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems field will ensure that the incumbent has the conceptual skills required for this demanding role. The candidate should be experienced in complex SQL programming, VBA, Java, Python, HTML, TCP/IP, DAT Files, Ops Jobs, Backend, FTP, developing Custom Tables, data structures and designing new schema’s
