A Bachelor's degree is required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.

Candidates must posses the following skills and experience:

-Demonstrated proficiency in content development that effectively communicates organizational brand and message.
-Advanced oral and written communication skills.
-Proficiency with various digital and print communication channels.
-Experience organizing and managing multiple priorities, programs, and projects both independently and in a team.
-Ability to work collaboratively with numerous stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and identities, including corporate representatives and executives, non-profit and government professionals, alumni, career center staff, department faculty and staff, campus partners, and students.

Sucessful Candidates will be able to demonstrate one or more of these preferred skills or experience:

-Ability to articulate and enthusiastically promote the value of a liberal arts and sciences degree at the UW-Madison to a variety of audiences.
-Prior work experience in communications and public relations for a university unit.
-Experience communicating to a variety of audiences and stakeholders with different needs, but especially with college students.
-Experience developing a comprehensive communication strategy.
-Experience leading a rebranding effort.
-Advancement or development experience.
-Entrepreneurial spirit, with a strong work ethic and self-starter attitude.
-Flexibility and willingness to adapt to emerging priorities as they connect to the overall mission of the office.

Position Summary:

The College of Letters & Sciences (L&S) Career and Internship Center will re-envision and transform the ways in which L&S prepares its undergraduates for life-long success. With a 90% job and graduate school placement rate, L&S students are highly competitive. As our center grows, we plan to build out a new marketing and communications arm to strategically communicate to our stakeholders and market our services in creative ways to students. The role of the Director of Marketing and Communications is four-fold: 1) to build an efficient and effective communications unit that supports Advising and Career Communities, Career Education, Internship and Employer Services and the Executive Director; 2) to complete our rebranding process, integrating our brand into all communications and campaigns; 3) to develop and implement strategic communications plans that support organizational goals; and 4) to create and execute creative campaigns with the purpose of increase engagement by key stakeholders, especially L&S undergraduates.
