The Rowing Rigger/Boatwright is responsible for assisting the Head Women’s Rowing Coach with ensuring the care, maintenance, transporting of the rowing facilities and equipment, and coaching student athletes.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:1. Maintenance of all rowing-related equipment, including ergometers, trailers, boats, etc.2. Making minor repairs on equipment. This could involve, but is not limited to, replacing hardware, repairing damage to oars, painting blades, re-wiring boats for onboard electronics, and repairing damage to boats.3. Keeping a full stock of spare parts for the various types of equipment in the rowing inventory, including rowing shells, electronics, oars, launches, rowing machines, trailers, and vehicles.4. Maintaining travel boxes during the season with spare parts, repair kits, and tools.5. Acting as the liaison with the Office of Risk Management to keep the inventory updated and equipment insured.6. Maintenance of the outboard engines, including flushing the engines twice per month and acting as the liaison with the local outboard engine mechanic for regular maintenance and mechanical problems.7. Rigging as required by Head Women’s Rowing Coach.8. Maintenance of the rowing truck which includes taking it in for oil changes and other scheduled maintenance. Taking it to the mechanic for larger problems if and when they arise.9. Installing and removing the 2k meter buoy line before and after home events.10. Assisting with the planning, development, and running of home events.11. Keeping a constant supply of gas on hand for coaches’ launches.12. Transportation of boats to and from regattas.13. Assisting the Head Coach in hosting all home events.14. Preparing equipment (e.g., coaching launches) for all on-water sessions.15. Coach student athletes as needed and as assigned by the head coach. Primarily work with novice student athletes in the fall semester as needed.16. Adhere to all department and NCAA rules. Attend all compliance related meetings, trainings and testing.17. Additional duties as assigned by the Head Women’s Rowing Coach. Minimum qualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent; and one year of appropriate experience.
