Specialist-Equal Opportunity/Title IX Investigator (Part-Time,Variable Hour)

Position Category: Staff - Part-Time (Variable Hour)

Serves as an Equal Opportunity Investigator for cases alleging race, national origin, color, disability, age over 40, religious, veteran, genetic information, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation and sexual violence/assault misconduct complaints, involving students, faculty, employees, visitors, and persons or vendors who serve the University as its agents. Assists in meeting U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission compliance standards and best practices.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a directly related field of study or a combination of education and experience totaling four years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge in Title IX, Clery, SaVE, VAWA,Title VII of the Civil Rights of 1964, Title II of the ADA, and other similar EEO laws.
  • Knowledge EEO analysis and report writing requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of conflict resolution basics.
  • Knowledge in research (including legal research)
  • Knowledge and familiarity with FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Microsoft office.
  • Skills in investigation methods and techniques.
  • Skills in preparation of comprehensive complex reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, punctuation, composition and proofreading skills.
  • Skills in the preparation and interpretation of reports, charts, graphs, and tables.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to remain neutral and objective.
  • Superior organization skills, including the ability to manage time and tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated superior judgment in a variety of sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Skills in the use of computers and Microsoft office, including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, databases.
  • Skills in office methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience providing training to employees and/or students.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion and tact with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to follow detailed verbal and written procedures and instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:
J.D. (or in progress) preferred.
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year of experience in human resources, equal opportunity, title IX, Clery, SaVE, VAWA,Title VII of the Civil Rights of 1964, Title II of the ADA, and other similar EEO laws, or a closely related field. Experience in an academic setting in employee and student conduct, sexual harassment, or misconduct areas. Prior experience with public entity or State of Utah investigation procedure. Conflict resolution/mediation. Experience providing training to employees also helpful.

Physical Requirements:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Benefits Summary:
You may be eligible for a 3 credit hour or 1 class tuition waiver after 6 consecutive months of employment and a minimum of 475 hours worked. Dependents do not qualify for a waiver.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $17.83 - $22.29
