The School of Stage and Screen at WCU combines training for both film and television and theatre. Responsibilities for the Assistant Professor/Technical Director fixed term faculty position includes supervising all areas of the design and technical production areas (except costumes) including budgets, management of production staff, serving as the primary production manager for the main stage season, ensuring safety protocols, facilities management of two theatre spaces/scene shop/storage, designing as able, teaching in an area of technical theatre as assigned, collaborating with design faculty, and advising students as needed.
Minimum Training & Experience Requirements:
Minimum training & experience requirements: Terminal degree (MFA or Doctorate in Theatre and/or Film and Television Production) from accredited institution and/or at least five years significant professional experience at the national level. Must be able to demonstrate skill as a scenic carpenter. Must be able to design either sound or lights. Must be able to use and teach Vectorworks, QLab Pro 3/4, ETC lighting consoles, and have or quickly gain proficiency in multiple sound consoles.
Preferred qualifications: extensive production experience in theatre and/or film and television; teaching experience in technical and design courses. Welding experience a plus. Significant experience in lighting and sound design a plus.
