Position Summary

The Department of Kinesiology ( at Michigan State University seeks a faculty member at the assistant or associate professor level with expertise in exercise physiology. The ideal candidate will enhance the research and grant portfolio of the department, be committed to quality teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students, and value service to the institution, profession, and community. The position is a 9-month tenure system appointment with an August 16, 2018 start date.                                                         

Duties include:

•     Develop and maintain a scholarly research program that will augment department strengths.

•     Seek and obtain external funding.

•     Teach in all modes of delivery and at all levels in areas of expertise and department curricular need.

•     Recruit, advise, and mentor graduate students at the masters and doctoral levels.

•     Perform service as appropriate to the department, college, university, profession, and community.

Required Degree


Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have an earned relevant doctoral degree or provide evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed prior to the start of the appointment. The successful candidate must: (a) show evidence of significant scholarly accomplishment, (b) conduct research that has substantial potential for acquiring external funding, and (c) demonstrate proficiency in college-level teaching. Associate-level candidates must have a record of success in external funding and show evidence of effective graduate student mentoring.

Desired Qualifications

Post doctoral experience is strongly desired.  Preference will be given to candidates who can foster scholarly connections within the department and across campus.
