Chief Medical Officer, Children’s Hospital

West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics seeks a pediatric cardiac intensivist to serve as Chief Medical Officer for WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital. This position will dedicate .40 FTE to CMO responsibilities, and .40 FTE dedicated to clinical education, for a total of .80 FTE.

Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree (the employer accepts foreign educational equivalent) and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license.  Candidates must have completed an accredited pediatrics residency program. Dual eligibility/training in pediatric critical care and pediatric cardiology is a plus. Responsibilities will include providing excellent patient care as well as teaching medical students and residents. Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research.  

The individual will be responsible primarily for clinical inpatient and ambulatory operations and quality oversight of WVU Medicine Children’s, working closely with the Executive Vice President and the Director for Children’s. All Children’s Medical Directors will report through this position.
