Clark University’s Information Technology Services seeks a high energy, design-minded individual to fill the position of Academic Technology Associate to work with the Academic Technology team in the production and utilization of multimedia content that supports the University’s teaching and learning mission. Reporting to the Manager for Online and Instructional Technologies, while the successful candidate will provide some basic support (because everyone on the team does some with the supported software/services), there is also space for creative production. The Academic Technology Associate is not expected to be an expert in instructional design theory or all things instructional technology, but is expected to help bring instructional ideas to life in sustainable ways that: creatively utilize resources available; take into account accessibility considerations; and raise the bar on the communities’ fluency level when it comes to design aesthetic and user experience. Duties and Responsibilities Included in a range of responsibilities, the Academic Technology Associate will work closely with the Academic Technology team, and in consultation with faculty, to creatively design, produce, implement, and document multimedia content in support of educational activities at the University; provide assistance in the use of use of instructional technologies; coordinate the educational media needs of faculty, staff, and students, as well as other duties as assigned. Qualifications The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in current web, media and/or graphic production tools and techniques. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement. The ideal candidate will be proficient in some combination of graphic design, web development, video production, visual presentation, graphics, multimedia, user experience design, accessible design and/or animation software; and proficient at tools and providing assistance in a Windows-based environment. The candidate will have the ability to innovate and create while working within campus guidelines, approved technologies and existing processes; the ability to establish collaborative working relationships at all levels of the University; the ability the work independently and as part of a team; the ability to set priorities and work concurrently on multiple tasks and projects; and the ability to communicate progress/problems to appropriate personnel effectively. The candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and in person, with people at varying levels of computer literacy and must possess a high degree of integrity relative to computer security and the confidentiality of information. The candidate must be able to work nights and weekends on an as-needed basis. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, 12-month position with excellent benefits, which include employee and family tuition benefits, 4 weeks’ vacation, generous retirement plan, free use of campus fitness center and many more.
