Resident Director (MVCC Dormitory Corporation)
Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience in Residence Life or a closely related Student Affairs area, as a student leader (i.e. Resident Assistant) or as a professional required. This is a live-on position. The incumbent will reside on MVCC’s Utica, New York campus.
The Resident Director is a member of the administrative team responsible for providing overall daily management and leadership for all on-campus housing services. The Resident Director creates and promotes a living-learning environment that fosters educational, social and cultural responsibility and development. The Resident Director shares responsibility for approximately 500 undergraduates, Resident Assistant student staff supervision, judicial procedures, programming and general complex operations.
Duties of the Resident Director include, but are not limited to the following:
Resides on MVCC’s Utica, New York campus;
Responsible for administrative duties including but not limited to, any occupancy records, appropriate communication with Residence Hall Facilities, room assignments, fire drills, building openings and closings, and implementation of standing office procedures;
Has primary focus in one specialty area such as academic success initiatives, community development or housing operations;
Holds a minimum of six (6) office hours per day in order to provide student service (adjusted due to night/weekend duty and in summer);
Shares responsibility for supervision, training and evaluation of student RA staff;
Other duties as assigned.
