ADMIN & FINANCIAL OFFICER
Duties: The Associate Director, Research Administration is responsible for oversight and management of all administrative and financial activities of the Divisions of Nephrology and Infectious Disease. This includes responsibility for establishing and monitoring administrative policy and infrastructure; overseeing human resource functions, including managing salaries for all University personnel within the Divisions; providing leadership, professional development, and supervision to all staff, including training, mentorship and compliance oversight of research. The position is responsible for all budgets and financial transactions processed within the Divisions. This person will have full responsibility for the administration of research-related funds, gift and endowment funds, ADF and operating funds within Nephrology and Infectious Disease. Financial responsibilities include financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, cost analysis, and report preparation across all fund groups, totaling approximately $25 Million annually. Collaborate with Clinical Division Administrators on financial analyses and projections associated with faculty productivity, compensation and incentive programs.
The Associate Director reports to the Division Chiefs and Chief Research Administrator, Department of Medicine, and will work collaboratively with Associate Director for Research Administration in the Divisions of Translational Medicine and Human Genetics and Rheumatology to provide oversight of shared grants management services. Namely, the Associate Director will have accountability of managing the post-award processes for all grants in the four divisions and direct supervision for 4-6 grants managers/staff. This position will work directly with faculty, and administrators to monitor and ensure compliance and efficiency of grant activity, fiscal resources and controls. The Associate Director will be proficient in all electronic systems (PD, PennERA, Ben Financials and Business Warehouse) as well as utilizing reporting tools to develop and maintain metrics to enhance grant management.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 5 years to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
