Duties: The candidate will work in a newly established lab in the Microbiology Department in the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM). The candidate will perform a variety of assays, including RNAi depletion of host factors, qPCR to monitor gene expression levels and automated fluorescence to assess rates of viral infection. The ability to perform other basic molecular assays such as protein and DNA gel electrophoresis and western blotting is essential. Additional support duties will include making solutions and reagents. The candidate must be capable of maintaining articulate documentation of daily tasks and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

In addition to the above Research Specialist B will work with the principal investigator to design and implement biological assays to evaluate the role of host genes in viral infection. Specific responsibilities will include moderately complex procedures/techniques in eukaryotic/mammalian cell-culture, molecular biology, cell biology.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: Research Specialist A: A Bachelor's Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Research Specialist B - A Bachelor's Degree and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
