TRiO Student Support Services Advisor
Placement Range: $17.50 - $19.25 per hour
General Description: The Advisor for TRiO Student Support Services will coordinate the intake process and provide direct support to 160 program participants in both group and individual settings through advising and support services including career, educational, academic, financial, personal and economic areas. The TRiO-SSS Advisor participates in a variety of student activities which support retention, graduation and transfer and serves as liaison between program participants, college faculty/staff, and community agencies.
Minimum Education/Experience: Master's Degree in Counseling or related field. Two (2) years experience advising students at the high school or college level.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Federal regulations related to Department of Education eligibility requirements for TRiO admissions and student support services required services. Knowledge of counseling, career, and academic assessment instruments. Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to facilitate small groups and develop special needs workshops. Knowledge of financial aid programs and application procedures. Ability to provide academic advisement on personal, academic, and career matters to participants with learning and physical disabilities. Computer skills. Ability to work flexible schedule.
