Job Description
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for a Communications & Technology Adjunct Instructor.

The number of vacancies is dependent on student enrollment, division needs, and dean approval. Your application cannot be considered until all required documents have been received.

Adjunct faculty plan classes and implement and evaluate teaching/learning objectives and student learning outcomes. Adjunct faculty undertake the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member, including office hours. The successful applicant will be expected to provide quality instruction in undergraduate Communication & Technology courses matching the instructor's background, education, and skills base. These offerings include courses in digital photography, visual communication, digital field production, events, communication literacy, sports communication, sports writing, social media, studio production, public relations and advertising (writing, strategy, case studies, and campaigns), and cinematography, among others.

Adjunct faculty members may be required to use certain texts and meet certain parameters set by the Department of Languages and Communication. Adjunct instructors will also be required to include in their courses certain student assessment measures determined by the department, and to compile data on those assessment criteria.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Communication, Journalism, Film Production, Script Writing, or other related discipline and outstanding experience or potential for excellence in teaching Communication-related courses.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD or MFA in Communication or related field, with significant experience in applied or professional communication;
  • Successful experience teaching adults in a post-secondary institution;
  • Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.

Physical requirements necessary to perform essential job functions
Work requires some muscular exertion and/or physical strain such as standing for long periods of time, recurring bending, or recurring lifting of items weighing up to 15 pounds.
