The College of Information and Communications is seeking a full-time (12 month) Assistant Dean for Student Services. Serves as the senior level administrator for all student services
for the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, the
School of Library and Information Science, and the College of
Information and Communications. The Assistant Dean works in
collaboration with other university administrators in the
college, and with faculty, staff, and students to carry out the
college's mission and goals related to student services. Additionally, the Assistant Dean serves as a member of key university committees requiring representation from the college, and provides oversight of all student affairs issues.
Supervises support staff assigned to assistant dean. Works with school directors in managing student recruitment and retention efforts, coordinates student orientation, oversees advising, registration and graduation procedures and
Provides oversight and leadership of all student affairs issues assuring access, success, responsiveness, and coordination. Supervises support staff personnel assigned to assistant dean.
Works with college leadership to provide support for program evaluation and provide evidence for program improvement to meet ACEJMC, ALA, and SACS accreditation requirements.
Assists dean and directors in ensuring effective and efficient management of academic programs and climate of schools.
Serves as dean's designee in student issues such as academic misconduct, sexual harassment, grade appeals, and exceptions to academic policies.
Assists the directors in strategic planning, in collaboration with other administrators, faculty, and staff.
Master's degree and 5 years experience working with students within student services, advising, or admissions.
Strong student services experience, preferably within the
University of South Carolina system, knowledge of program
planning, evaluation and assessment and monitoring students'
progress, supervisory experience and knowledge of institutional policies and procedures
