University of North Texas Dallas - Jaguar Orientation Intern (New Student Orientation Intern)
The Jaguar Orientation Intern will perform a variety of duties and support assignments in the Office of New Student Orientation with well-defined instructions and guidelines provided by the full-time Admissions/Orientation staff and under the direct supervision of the Assistant VP for Enrollment Management and the Director of Undergraduate Admissions. The Jaguar Orientation Intern will work closely with the Orientation Coordinator while also serving as a leader and a resource for first time in college students throughout the Summer 2017 orientation season. This position requires the incumbent to maintain a consistent and effective level of communication with direct supervisors as well as Admissions/Orientation staff. The Orientation intern will work all freshman and transfer orientation sessions throughout the Summer 2017 orientation season including any and all necessary preparation days. Specific hours are set based on availability along with the orientation schedule as determined by the Orientation Coordinator.This is a temporary summer intern position.EXAMPLES OF WORK?Overseeing a staff of up to six (6) Jaguar Orientation Counselors.?Assisting heavily in the planning and execution of all orientation sessions.?Planning and scheduling orientation preparation days.?Preparing materials (name tags, t-shirts, binders, snacks, etc.) for each orientation session. ?Answering questions and serving as a resource for new freshman students throughout their orientation session.?Ensuring that all facilities, catering orders, and other important details are planned and reserved.?Assisting in keeping proper records of relevant orientation data such as attendance reports and assessment evaluations. ?Serving as a liaison between Academic Advising and the orientation office to ensure registration materials are prepped.?Assisting in the development of a communication flow to students registered for orientation.?Perform other assignments as needed.The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit ? and takes actions to prevent ? discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices.
