Job Description:

The Assistant Director for Career and Industry Engagement/Career Liaison-In-Residence herein described is responsible for supporting and assisting in the development, direction, administration, and promotion of experience and employment connections for students living on campus working the Department of Housing & Residence Education. The incumbent identifies and cultivates professional development programs to prepare students for full-time, internship, and fellowship opportunities. He/she supports University of Florida (UF) students’ post-graduation plans by developing, implementing, and assessing programs and resources to support the career exploration and education of undergraduate and graduate students residing on campus. 

[30%] - Participates in developing and executing the Career Resource Center’s (CRC) student engagement plan specific to students residing on-campus partnered with the Department of Housing & Residence Education; primarily responsible for conducting outreach and providing career programs to prepare students to take advantage of networking, mentoring, internships, or job search opportunities. Engages in programming for a specific residential segmentation for student residents including trainings, welcome events and move-in activities. Designs and host individual career-planning sessions and workshops in resident halls. Delivers programs to help students learn about industry, life skills, competencies and academic career options to advance their professional skill development. Promotes UF and its students to generate employment connections.

[30%] - Serves as a career services specialist to assist UF students in preparing to compete for internships, professional employment, and admission into graduate school. Provides individual and group career coaching to assist individual career development needs; topics include career exploration, job search strategies, and resume preparation. Develops selected materials, services or programs (career forums, workshops, and networking events) to help students identify the range of career alternatives and job opportunities associated with residential communities. Plans, implements, and conducts outreach, presentations, and programs to educate and inform students, residential staff members, and administrators about career programs, services, resident education and employability skills.

[20%] - Serves as the primary career services liaison for staff members within a residential area of campus for the exchange of information and referrals between respective co-curricular unit and CRC. Maintains a high level of visibility in the residence areas to build relationships with students, staff and campus partners serving students in the resident halls. Attend meetings, events and programs of Housing & Residence Education staff members. Promotes residential programs, services, and information sharing associated with their respective communities, and informs units of current CRC services. Creates partnerships and expand interactions with employers and campus partners to create and increase career-related experiential learning and employment connections for students within a specific residential communities.

[10%] - Works with the CRC and Housing staff to support UF students’ career development. Initiate, develop, and maintain relationships with campus partners to support career exploration and education for UF candidates. Provide students with career education and outreach to support the mission of the CRC.

[05%] - Responsible for tracking, assessing, and evaluating efforts within employer outreach, student success, and connections within a specific residential area of campus. Provides accurate data collection for student engagement in experiential learning and employment opportunities, e.g., internships, shadowing, co-ops, research, new jobs, and volunteer experiences. Creates outcome reports and materials to reflect efforts, connections, and engagement.

[05%] - Performs other duties (as assigned by supervisor and/or higher authority) to ensure the success of career services on behalf of UF, its students, and alumni. Assist in delivering other core CRC programs, including (but not limited to) participating in CRC events, programs, career planning, and employer development activities.


Advertised Salary:

$47,476 as listed. 

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

 • Master's degree in human resources, student personnel, counselor education, marketing, etc. Desired more than two years of experience in career services, marketing, sales, outreach, career development, higher education, human resources, and/or working with diverse populations.
• Multicultural competency and sensitivity.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Candidate should be energetic, flexible, organized, and innovative.
• Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications, multi-tasking, and teamwork skills.
• Experience in Career Services setting or Student Affairs is highly desirable.
• Strong interest in working with experiential education and promoting experiential education to employers through outreach.
