Assistant Director for Career and Professional DevelopmentJob Description: The Assistant Director for Career Services herein described is assigned to the Career and Professional Development Group within the Career Resource Center (CRC), and serves as the Assistant Director for Professional Development and Experience. Incumbent is responsible for all aspects of counseling/coaching, career development, career education, liaison activities, and development of programs to support the student populations at the University of Florida. Incumbent is principally responsible for college-specific internship and experiential learning promotion and development on campus. Works with college advisors and internship coordinators to educate students about internships. Incumbent will also conduct employer outreach and support for employer services activities in the Center.
(35%) The functions completed through this position will advance UF students preparation for employment post-graduation by developing, implementing and assessing programs and resources for college-specific internships, job shadowing and work experience on and off campus before graduation. Collaborates with other departments/ student services to effectively market experiential learning through outreach programming and special events. Collaborates with other colleagues on the Career Development Team in the coordination of the Center’s Certified Professional Gator Program and internship and job shadowing programs. Works with Career Development team members to enrich CRC programs to incorporate industry information and employer-student interactions where appropriate. Connects with student leaders, faculty, staff, and administrators to promote employer/student services. Coordinates with Career Development Team and Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications to insure proper promotion of career, professional and personal development resources, services and programs to targeted student populations.
(25%) Engages employers, alumni and parents to develop pre-graduation work experiences and learning through internships, job shadowing and educational programs and events to advance UF students’ career, personal and professional growth. Manages center’s programs and initiatives to support students’ development. Stays current with recent trends, resources and research addressing student issues. Reports the effectiveness of programs designed to meet the needs of students.
(20%) Provides career planning services to all UF students. Participates in weekly appointments to all students (undergraduate and graduate). Provides follow-up appointments to help students in their career-decision making and exploration. May administer and interpret a variety of career assessments.
(20%) Serves as liaison to one or more colleges within the University of Florida, providing specialized career development outreach, education and support to administrators, faculty, staff, and students of the specified college(s). Performs administrative duties as assigned by the Manager and higher authorities in the department and division.Advertised Salary:

Master's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in counseling, student personnel, higher education administration or related field.
• Ability to provide intentional and ethical coaching to students.
• Ability to integrate student development, experiential learning, counseling theories, career development theories when working with students.
• Multicultural competency and sensitivity.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Candidate should be energetic, flexible, organized, and innovative.
• Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications, multi-tasking, and teamwork skills.
• Experience in Career Services setting or Student Affairs is highly desirable.
• Strong interest in working with experiential education and promoting experiential education to employers through outreach.
