JOB PURPOSE: The Accommodations Coordinator will assist in making first level decisions on issues regarding admission, financial aid, housing, registrar services, visa services, student life, advising, career counseling and academic services. Resolve routine issues within own unit using defined policies and practices and professional knowledge as reference.

This position oversees the execution and delivery of academic and facilities-based accommodations to students with disabilities who are registered with the Office of Accessible Education at Stanford University. The incumbent will resolve basic issues within own unit using defined policies and practices and professional knowledge as reference. This position reports to the Director of Operations, Office of Accessible Education.


CORE DUTIES*:

  • Review and administer student records, analyze data, and make recommendations and first level, routine decisions on basic issues.
  • Collect and analyze data from multiple sources, prepare reports.
  • Collaborate with other staff to approve and resolve complex issues.
  • Provide general guidance and counsel on programs, policies, and services; participate in planning for future needs.
  • Contribute to developing and analyzing review process of offerings, policies and programs.
  • Serve as a basic information resource to other departments; represent unit/department.
  • Participate as a member of a project team.
  • May train and supervise volunteers, student and temporary workers.
  • Source, hire, and schedule those vendors and independent contractors providing sign language interpreting, real-time captioning, and CART services; negotiate contract terms and rates; and collaborate with faculty to determine effective in-class solutions without classroom disruption.
  • Recruit, screen, and assess candidates for positions needed to fulfill student accommodations including, but not limited to: note takers; exam readers/scribes; lab assistants; library assistants; and visual description.
  • Collaborate with Housing Assignment Services and Housing Facilities to coordinate the reasonable disability-related accommodations for which students are approved by the Disability Advisers.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computing skills, including experience with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Relevant computer systems/technology experience.
  • Understanding hiring requirements and financial transactions.
  • Ability to learn and understand compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Google apps and online document storage solutions. Familiarity with CRMs including Salesforce.
  • Exceptional ability to prioritize competing demands and time management.
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines with limited resources or additional time pressure.
  • Situational analysis and creating thinking.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
