The Division of Student Affairs comprises 18 campus departments that enhance the learning environment for students at the University of Georgia by stimulating the learning process, integrating the in-class and out-of-class experiences, and promoting an environment conducive to growth and discovery and facilitating intellectual, spiritual, social, occupational, physical, cultural and emotional development. UGA Student Affairs is uniquely positioned and ideally suited to support academic programs by connecting students’ classroom knowledge through leadership development, civic engagement, residential programs, and intercultural learning. The Director of Academic Partnerships and Initiatives is a position that demonstrates the Division’s commitment to creating seamless partnerships and integrated curricular and co-curricular learning experiences for UGA’s students. This position will be responsible for building a network of Student Affairs partnerships with academic degree programs and instructional initiatives, fostering seamless learning opportunities for students, and facilitating high-quality academic and other partnerships within Student Affairs. The Director of Academic Partnerships and Initiatives reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Michele Howard.

• Provide consultation and support for all units within Student Affairs to assist in the creation of new and improvement of existing academic partnerships
• Create seamless educational experiences connecting academic courses, club and organizations, instructional initiatives, civic engagement and other experiences
• Advance UGA Student Affairs as a principal laboratory for research and experiential learning opportunities by identifying and pursuing partnerships with faculty interested in doing research within Student Affairs
• Facilitate the partnership between UGA Student Affairs and the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities (CURO) to increase student research opportunities in the Division and on campus 
• Establish the Student Affairs Research Collective aimed to support Student Affairs employees who seek to research, prepare and submit manuscripts for publication
• Cultivate and sustain active relationships and partnerships with a variety of key campus stakeholders including, but not limited to, the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost along with the leadership of the academic colleges, Office of the Vice President for Instruction, Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach, Office of University Experiential Learning, Academic Advising Services, Center for Teaching and Learning, and the Honors Program 
• Establish the Student Affairs Faculty Fellows program and administer the Student Affairs Faculty Research Grant
• Convene, facilitate, and oversee the Student Affairs Academic Advisory Board
• Coordinate the Graduate Assistant Selection Program (GASP) for the Division of Student Affairs
• Serve as the primary liaison for Student Affairs with the College Student Affairs Administration (CSAA) Program within the College of Education
• Convene regular meetings of administrators performing student affairs functions in the academic colleges.
• Serve as a resource for the cultivation and submission for grants and other external funding to benefit the Division
• Teach an undergraduate course each term in the Student Affairs Minor, academic discipline, or divisional class offerings.
• Assist with coordination of marketing initiatives for associated programs
• Assist with and support fundraising and development opportunities related to initiatives as appropriate
• Support UGA Student Affairs on university-wide initiatives by serving on or chairing various committees
• Serve as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team and actively participate in division-wide leadership initiatives, decision-making, and committee/task force management
• Develop, oversee, and reconcile associated departmental budgets and ensure compliance with university policy and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

A master’s degree in the candidate’s field of study is required

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following preferred qualifications: 
• Minimum of five to seven years of experience in a higher education setting either through administrative practice, and/or as teaching and/or research faculty 
• Considerable knowledge regarding higher education practice, faculty governance, research methodology, and teaching pedagogy
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate, create, and sustain partnerships and build relationships with faculty and academic personnel
• Strong organizational and budget-management skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to navigate a large, complex public land-grant university
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and with individuals and groups with a variety of identities, cultures, and backgrounds
• Strong interpersonal, management, and innovative problem-solving skills
• Willing to work weeknights and weekends as required.

A terminal degree in the candidate’s field of study is preferred.
