Nature of Work

The Assistant for the Office of the Vice President provides highly responsible, administrative assistance to the Executive Associate to the Vice President and the Vice President. This position is regarded as “the face of the Vice President’s Office.” Flexibility to handle multiple tasks at one time in a productive, organized, and concise manner is a must. Confidential matters must be handled with discretion and ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with all levels of management is required. Responsibilities include answering and screening calls, greeting and receiving visitors, opening and prioritizing mail, maintaining a filing system, scheduling meetings, maintaining office supplies and equipment, composing routine letters, and other general office duties. Performing these duties requires significant independent decision-making and sensitivity to protocol and procedures in the higher education environment.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 2-4 years of administrative assistant experience in a similar office setting, outstanding interpersonal skills and excellent computer skills (Office). Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks accurately and in a timely manner. Must have excellent organizational skills. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

3-5 years of working for a Vice President in a higher education setting.


$13.41/hr minimum - $17.85/hr midpoint

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

May occasionally involve lifting materials from 10 to 25 pounds. General office environment with movement around in the office.
