The Department of Politics at the University of Virginia invites applications for a full-time position in ENVIRONMENTAL POLITICS at the assistant professor (tenure-track) or associate professor (tenured) level. The position is open with respect to subfield within political science, and we are especially interested in candidates who desire to work across both subfield and disciplinary boundaries. This is a cross-school, cross-disciplinary effort focused on integrating social, political, cultural and scientific approaches to address environmental challenges. The initiative includes a cluster hire of at least five faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences (Politics, Economics, Environmental Sciences), the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and the School of Architecture.

We are especially interested in candidates who have an interest in, or demonstrated capacity for mentoring diverse students and colleagues.

We welcome applications from candidates in any--or some mix--of the subfields of Comparative Politics, International Relations, and American Politics.

Applicants at the assistant professor rank must be on track to receive a PhD in Political Science by May 2017 and must hold a PhD at the time of appointment, although those still at the ABD stage in August 2017 may be appointed as acting assistant professor. Applicants at the associate professor rank must hold a PhD at the time of application and must have an outstanding publication and teaching record.
