Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Space, Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) is a research and development center with an international reputation for developing instrumentation for both terrestrial and space flight applications. SSEC's mission includes the support of faculty and academic staff led research, development, fabrication and implementation of space flight experiments, as well as the development of new meteorological research tools for national and international use. The Financial Specialist hired to work at SSEC will function under the general supervision of the Assistant Director for Administration. This position will analyze, process, and audit a variety of complex center financial transactions connected to a diverse set of funding sources in an evolving set of rules, regulations and business practices required by the University, granting agencies and center policies. This position requires initiative in the timely and accurate preparation and processing of financial transactions and reporting.

This position is responsible for tracking, reconciling and reporting on accounts, encumbrances, and balances which requires expertise in using spreadsheets, word processing documents, email programs, and related software knowledge to accomplish goals. Comprehensive application of accounting and bookkeeping practices and principals will be utilized and extensive familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc) and related financial software is required. Duties will be completed according to University and SSEC rules and regulations and in compliance with granting agency requirements.



Schedule Comment:

7:45 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. with some flexibility based on work needs.

Position is posted at 100% time, however, there is flexibility for a 75% - 100% time appointment. Schedule to be determined upon hire.
