Position Information: Undergraduate Education promotes student success by enriching the undergraduate experience and empowering students to reach their highest potential. Our students will become leaders, engaged global citizens, and life-long learners. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost, Undergraduate Education (AVPUE), the Coordinator will be responsible for program management related to academic internships that promote academic excellence and student success. The Coordinator will develop, coordinate, and evaluate: the UC Washington Center internship programs (UCDC); the UC Center Sacramento internship programs (UCCS); and academic internships with community partners in the Inland Empire, including UCR partners, local non-profit organizations, schools, government offices, and businesses. The Coordinator will initiate partnerships with multiple constituencies as part of program development and implementation. Partners will include academic departments, university faculty, academic advisers, Career Center staff, Financial Aid advisers, UC system-wide partners, community partners, and student groups/organizations. The Coordinator will work with department leaders to develop academic internships, and create procedures for program implementation (e.g., courses, student contracts, risk management, and evaluation). The Coordinator will conduct outreach and support for other Student Engagement Programs, e.g., opportunities fair, information sessions for undergraduate research, and the annual undergraduate research symposium.

Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of learning theories and training models.
Problem solving skills.
Demonstrated success developing and fostering relationships with university faculty and staff, students, and external partners.
Knowledge of strategies in critical thinking, reading, writing, note taking, test taking, time management, and goal setting.
Skills in judgment and decision-making.
Knowledge of how learning skills issues apply to a research institution.
Oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and presentation skills.
Proficient computer skills including databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based systems.
Knowledge of FERPA in relation to Student Affairs.
Ability to communicate information in small and large group settings.
Multicultural competencies; knowledge and experience working and interacting effectively with diverse groups of staff, faculty, and student populations.
Develops knowledge of current and theoretical models that influence the application and delivery of academic services (e.g., discipline specific; student-population specific).
Develops knowledge of specific learning theory, learning styles, affective issues, academic issues, and socio-cultural issues in applying academic support for students.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience as an undergraduate participant in a University of California UCDC or UCCS program.

Extensive experience with UCR policies and procedures relating to various undergraduate degree programs.

Experience managing internship or experiential learning programs.

Excellent writing skills with ability to draft complex analyses, memos, reports, and correspondence. Ability to read and understand complex and/or detailed documents such as proposals, contracts, policies, and procedures.

Demonstrated experience using Banner.
