General Description of Position: Kansas State University’s Polytechnic Campus seeks a full-time Computer Systems Technology and Digital Media faculty member to join the School of Integrated Studies.  The successful candidate is expected to be an active contributor to the college’s teaching activities.  Areas of teaching emphasis may include, but are not limited to: web development, software development and programming, network and systems administration, database design and administration, and digital media.

Information about the Department: Computer systems technology focuses on the areas of programming, networking, computer hardware and commercial software. Kansas State Polytechnic's curriculum develops the students’ program design and problem-solving abilities to use in multiple computer programming languages. A two-semester capstone project then allows students to perfect those skills and implement them in a realistic computer system. Faculty stay connected with current trends in technology by conducting research and incorporating their findings in the classroom. Their industry experience and professional network ensures students are fully prepared to make the transition into the workforce.

Computer systems technology graduates can apply their education expertise in careers as programmers, system administrators, data administrators, web developers and IT support.

Job Description:

For Non-Tenure Track Instructor Rank:

  • Nine month appointment, expected effort will be 90% teaching, 10% service
  • Develop and deliver nationally recognized, cutting-edge learning opportunities for undergraduate courses
  • Create an environment that fosters diversity and collegiality

For Non-Tenure Track Teaching Assistant Professor Rank:

  • Nine month appointment, expected effort will be 80% teaching, 10% scholarship, and 10% service
  • Develop and deliver nationally recognized, cutting-edge learning opportunities for undergraduate courses
  • Create an environment that fosters diversity and collegiality

For Tenure Track Assistant Professor Rank (Ph.D. required):

  • Nine month appointment, expected effort will be 80% teaching, 10% scholarship, and 10% service
  • Develop and deliver nationally recognized teaching and research programs
  • Create an environment that fosters diversity and collegiality
  • Attract grant funds to support teaching and research programs
  • Develop collaborative programs with other faculty, units, and departments and Kansas State University, and allied industry organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related area
  • 3+ years of experience in industry
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Applicant must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Background check required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in web programming, design and development
  • PhD or equivalent in related area (required for tenure-track position)
  • Higher education teaching experience
  • Online teaching experience
