Description:

The role of the Classroom AV Tech is to provide hands on assistance to the Classroom Technology Support team in assisting faculty, staff and students in carrying out the academic, business and co-curricular goals of the college through the Innovative use of technology.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • First and second tier support for daily classroom AV operation with primary focus on maintaining up time and rapid response to outages.
  • Responds promptly to calls, walk-in and helpdesk requests.
  • Supports campus events including large venue sound, lighting, video recording and streaming.
  • Evaluates AV equipment and performs AV support and installation.
  • Follows the programs set forth by the Assistant Director of CTS in providing training and guidance for faculty, staff and students.
  • Provides guidance for student workers.
  • Assists with some event support & video productions, up to and including Commencements.
  • Supports evening and weekend classes and events.
  • Attends training and industry events to maintain and upgrade skills and professional development.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.






Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • One year of full time experience showing progressive involvement in AV projects of increasing scope and complexity.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:

  • College Degree, Tech School diploma or military training in related field.
  • Experience desired in integrating and/or programming AV systems.
  • Education and/or Industry Certifications.
  • A sound understanding of IP network principals.
  • Experience troubleshooting, operating and maintaining Educational Technology including Video Projectors, Crestron, control systems, video capturing, IP video conferencing, sound systems and a working knowledge of PC's and Mac's.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Requires the use of project management tools including Help Desk and scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of diverse AV/IT professionals, clients, and partners.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills are required. Including the ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
