Edmonson-Miller Endowed Chair (Associate Professor/Professor) - Finance, Insurance and Law
The Department of Finance, Insurance and Law in the College of Business seeks a distinguished scholar at the Associate Professor or Professor rank to fill a tenured 12-month appointment as the Edmonson-Miller Endowed Chair in Insurance and Financial Services to begin August 16, 2018.
The scholar will be assigned a two-course per semester teaching load, supporting the department's M.B.A.-level and undergraduate major courses. The primary teaching need is at the undergraduate level. Professional and institutional service is expected of the successful candidate to enhance the visibility of the Chair and the department.
The department emphasizes balanced excellence in innovative instruction and applied, empirical research. The successful candidate will also work with insurance industry partners, especially the partners of the Center for Insurance and Risk Management (a.k.a. Katie School).
The Department of Finance, Insurance and Law is one of four departments (along with Accounting, Management & Quantitative Methods, and Marketing) in the College of Business at Illinois State University. AACSB International accredits the College in both Accounting and Business. In 2016-2017, the college enrolled approximately 3,900 undergraduates and 150 master degree students. The Department of Finance, Insurance and Law has 25 faculty members, offers a major in Finance and a major in Risk Management and Insurance, and has a combined 902 undergraduate majors. There are 174 Risk Management and Insurance majors.

1. Qualified candidates should hold an earned doctorate from an AACSB-accredited institution in Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, Economics, or a closely- related field by position start date.
2. The successful candidate must demonstrate commitment to and evidence of both scholarly teaching and high quality, refereed research in insurance, actuarial science, risk management, or a closely-related area. The evidence must cover at least six years of data.
3. State of Illinois law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
