The WVU School of Pharmacy is seeking a highly accomplished academic pharmacist to serve as Department Chair and the Arthur Jacknowitz Distinguished (endowed) Chair in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy. The position is a fully funded, 12-month appointment at the rank of professor or associate professor with tenure. Faculty rank and salary are commensurate with academic background and experience. 

The Chair provides leadership for the academic, scholarly, and professional service missions of the department and is responsible for department operations. The chair represents the school throughout the state and nationally and develops collaborative relationships with other universities, industries, practice sites, and professional organizations. The department consists of faculty and staff at the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center (HSC) School of Pharmacy in Morgantown and in the Charleston Division of the HSC. The individual also has teaching, research/scholarship, and service responsibilities within the School of Pharmacy. 






PharmD or PhD degree plus two (2) years of postgraduate training or equivalent experience. The candidate must have an established national/international reputation in pharmacy practice and scholarship. The successful candidate will have the leadership skills and vision required to achieve the research, education, and service/practice missions of the department; promote collaborative practice and research efforts; mentor faculty; and develop relationships with external practice sites and programs. 

Institution and Location: West Virginia University is a land grant, Carnegie R1-designated Doctoral Research/Extensive institution, with approximately 23,000 undergraduate, 5,000 graduate, and 1,600 professional students. The HSC includes the Schools of Pharmacy, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health on one interconnected campus. New or recently updated research facilities, including an NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Institute to drive biomedical research across the state of West Virginia and a state-of-the-art simulation and clinical training center are also housed in the HSC.

The School of Pharmacy offers a professional PharmD program and interdisciplinary PhD programs in pharmaceutical sciences and health services & outcomes. The postgraduate pharmacy residency program is affiliated with WVU Medicine and includes PGY1 and various PGY2 residencies. Ruby Memorial Hospital (645 beds and multiple outpatient facilities) is part of the HSC and was recently designated one of the top 10 academic medical centers in the U.S. by Vizient. The School also works with a number of regional campuses, both clinically and academically.

The vibrant Morgantown area has approximately 130,000 residents and is rated as one of the best small metropolitan areas in the country, with excellent schools, cultural diversity, a picturesque countryside, a family-friendly environment, and many outdoor activities. It is also within easy driving distance of Pittsburgh, Washington, DC, and Baltimore.
