Duties: Reporting to the Associate Director, Staff and Labor Relations, the Sr. Staff Relations Specialist will assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective, comprehensive staff relations program to enhance and maintain positive staff relations and staff engagement and comply with all University policies and procedures and federal, state and local laws and regulations. The position counsels staff and managers on a wide range of staff and work-related issues and provides guidance on the interpretation and application of University policies and procedures and federal, state, and local laws. The Sr. Staff Relations Specialist advises management on restructuring/reorganization efforts and assists managers in enhancing management practices. The Sr. Staff Relations Specialist implements all staff relations programs, including but not limited to effective performance management programs, staff grievance procedure, and workplace issue resolution programs. The Sr. Staff Relations Specialist is responsible for leading and managing projects, programs and online systems.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Three to five years of progressively responsible and varied experience in the human resources field. SHRM certification preferred. Demonstrated experience in employee relations with knowledge of federal, state and local laws. Good employee relations, conflict resolution, project management and coaching skills required. Demonstrated experience in leading, implementing and managing projects and programs. Excellent organizational and time management skills and excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals at all levels. Understanding and/or the ability to understand and apply University policies and procedures as related to human resources. Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and implement a wide range of human resources programs independently and in collaboration with other HR professionals. Willingness to learn labor relations.
