Extern for Campus Programs, Center for Student Involvement

Job Summary: The Extern for Greek Life is a part-time position reporting to the professional staff of the Center for Student Involvement at the Chicago Campus. Special schedule conditions will include evening and weekend hours. The extern will work 17 hours/week; the term of employment will commence August 1, 2017 and conclude May 4, 2018.

Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated involvement in a student or volunteer organization Strong interest in mentoring, developing, and supervising students Strong ability to work as part of a team and autonomously Proven competence in multicultural awareness and development. Sophisticated interpersonal skills Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills Demonstrated understanding of and effectively working with fraternities and sororities Demonstrated facilitation or event planning experience Demonstrated understanding of the educational environment at a diverse, private, urban institution with a high percentage of non-traditional and commuter students Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Proficiency in the understanding of Social Media Platforms Strong interest in Social Media Management and trends

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: The extern is required to have an earned Bachelor's degree and be currently enrolled in a Master's degree program for College Student Personnel Services, Higher Education, Counseling, or related area during the time of employment. Experience in Greek Life and planning campus programs and events is required as well as a proven competence in multicultural identity development and awareness. A qualified candidate will possess the ability to provide student-centered programs and services to a range of student constituencies. The extern must possess exceptional organizational skills, sophisticated interpersonal skills, excellent listening, written and oral communication skills, initiative and a high level of energy.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in Higher Education is a plus
