About The Unit:

Unit Job Summary: Assistant Athletic Trainer: Assist the head athletic trainer in all aspects of the varsity intercollegiate athletic training program. Provide supervision of the student first responders.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree in athletic training or related field required. National-Athletic- Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) certification required. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator for the Professional Rescuer (CPR/AED PR) certification required. Eligibility for an Illinois Athletic Trainer licensure required. Certification as a personal trainer through ACSM, NETA, NSCA, or NFPT preferred.

Unit Experience: Experience in personal training and wellness programming preferred.

Unit Job Function Competencies: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required. Ability to analyze an athlete s activity required. Ability to motivate athletes to practice exercises required. Ability to wrap ankles, fingers, wrists, etc. to support muscles or ligaments required. Ability to assess injuries and assist injured athletes required. Ability to perform CPR and First Aid required. Ability to think quickly in an emergency required.
