Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applications for a PRA (Professional Research Assistant). This full-time position will work with the Asthma Clinical and Translational Program within the Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine. Under the supervision of the principal investigator, the individual will be responsible for performing laboratory techniques such as western blots, PCR, and extraction of protein and DNA. They will provide fresh solutions weekly and will prepare physiological solutions for use in the laboratory. The individual will also process human samples as sputum, bronchia alveolar lavage and other tissue samples.

The candidate must have a good knowledge of laboratory skills, a high level of self-sufficiency and must be able to work independently and maintain patient history records. Meticulous work habits, dependability, and good communication skills are required. The candidate will also have experience with cell culture and basic laboratory procedures.

  • Western blots
  • PCR
  • Protein and DNA extraction
  • Sterile techniques
  • Research data collection
  • Routine laboratory tasks (creation of buffers, biohazards disposal, etc)
  • Physiological solution preparation
  • Human sample processing
  • Maintain patient history records
  • Lab supply ordering

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years of experience in a research laboratory

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with Seahorse (cell analysis)

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Understanding of basic laboratory skills
  • Experience with cell culture
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
