BILINGUAL Temporary Professional Research Assistant

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Nutrition is seeking a part-time BILINGUAL (Spanish/English) Professional Research Assistant to work 8-16 hours/week. This position will last for 7-8 months. This position will support research efforts related to efforts to help mothers have healthy lifestyle habits after having a baby. The PRA position will involve recruitment of study participants (English and Spanish speaking) within clinical settings, consenting participants for study participation, data collection using interview and observational methods, phone calls with participants, managing a texting program, and frequent communication with the investigators and staff at a local clinic site. Work will be conducted in both a public clinic and office setting and will involve travel within the Denver area.

Example of Work

The PRA will:
  • Collaborate with the PI (Principal Investigator) and Co-Investigator(s).
    Assist in the coordination and implementation of all study activities.
  • Follow study protocols and all rules of human subject research.
  • Enroll, consent, survey, and follow up with participants.
  • Data collection using survey tools and observation.
  • Enter data into research database.
  • Organize all study papers and data and track all study activities.
  • Work within a clinic setting with clinic staff and others.
  • Communicate in person and on the phone with persons in both English and Spanish.
  • Accurately translate documents from English into Spanish.
  • Written and oral (phone and in-person) communication with the PI and Co-investigators.
  • Timely responses to requests.
  • Maintain a high level of professional behavior at all times.
  • Assist with relevant literature searches and reviews.
  • Assist in preparation of all reports.
  • Other project tasks as identified by the principal investigator.

Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of college coursework
  • Bilingual Spanish/English - highly proficient in Spanish and English both written and spoken.
  • Minimum one year of work experience
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
