Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Teacher Education and Administration seeks a Senior Lecturer of Science Education, who will contribute to its initial teacher certification programs (EC-6 and 4-8) and to its M.Ed. in Teaching program. This appointment, which begins Fall 2017, is a non-tenure track, three-year appointment (with the possibility of renewal) at a salary that is competitive and commensurate with rank and experience. This position will likely include teaching assignments at UNT's New College at Frisco and/or in Gainesville. All standard University of North Texas, College of Education, and relevant Department of Teacher Education and Administration faculty personnel rules and procedures apply to this position.
Responsibilities include teaching four courses each semester of the academic year (fall and spring). These courses will be in the initial teacher certification programs (grades EC-6 and 4-8) and the M.Ed. in Teaching program. Other responsibilities include contributing to program development and student support, serving on thesis and dissertation committees, and engaging in departmental and program-area initiatives. Summer school teaching is possible but is dependent on budget and demand.

Qualified candidates will have an earned doctoral degree with a minimum of eighteen graduate semester hours in Science Education and/or a related field (e.g., Curriculum & Instruction). ABD candidates will be considered as long as the doctorate is successfully defended prior to the start date.
Preference will be given to applicants who have a terminal doctoral degree in the field. Also required are at least three years of teaching experience in grades EC-12, with preference given (a) to those who have science teaching experience at the elementary and/or middle school level with linguistically and culturally diverse students and (b) to those who have taught teacher education courses at the college/university level.
