Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or similar field is required. Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field is preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
The best qualified candidates will demonstrate advanced skills in patient care and administration in an athletic population. A minimum of seven (7) years of professional athletic training experience is required for consideration. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in athletic training at the Division I level with the sport of Football is preferred. Previous experience as a Head Athletic Trainer for a Division I football program is preferred.
Additional qualifications include: demonstrated knowledge and commitment to adhering to Big Ten and NCAA rules and regulations; ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups and administrators, faculty, staff and students; ability to develop and implement innovative approaches and solutions; ability to work well independently and in teams; and ability to be flexible in accepting new responsibilities.
License or certificate:
Athletic Training Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers is required. Wisconsin Athletic Trainer License is also required.
Under the general direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, this position provides and directs athletic training services for the Wisconsin Football program in an integrated environment of all intercollegiate sports according to Division and University policies as well as Big Ten and NCAA rules and regulations. This position will be assisted by other full-time athletic trainers.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison has an accredited, undergraduate athletic training curriculum. Interaction will be required with the Curriculum Director in providing field experience for athletic training students. Key interactions will be with the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, Team Physicians, Head and Assistant Football Coaches, and football student-athletes in the performance of duties. An ability to work with diverse cultures and personalities is required as well as a desire to interact in a team approach with other staff members and professionals.

Conditions of Appointment: This is an Academic Staff appointment. Salary and level will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included. Anticipated start date on or after July 8, 2017.
