Fire Safety Systems Coordinator
The Department of Environmental Health and Safety at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a full-time Fire Safety Systems Coordinator.

Description of Responsibilities:
- Development and implementation of all fire and life safety programs in accordance with New York State Fire & Building Code, National Fire Protection Association standards and OSHA safety and health regulations throughout the Institution
- Act as Code Manager as per Title 19 NYCRR Part 1204
- Follow up on complaints related to fire safety & life safety and make appropriate recommendations and advise departments of same
- Conduct training in personal safety, fire safety, evacuation, extinguishment, and campus fire procedure
- Regularly conduct building inspections for compliance with life safety and fire codes
- Investigate and respond to chemical spills, noxious odors, fire alarms and drills, alarm tests and maintain records
- Facilitate and supervise maintenance of fire protection systems & equipment
- Coordinate annual inspections from Office of Fire Prevention & Control, Dorm Authority and other agencies
- Facilitate corrective actions and prepare reports
- Issue Burning and Breach permits
- Occasional evening and weekend emergency response
In addition, will be expected to display a commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.
- Associate's degree by time of appointment and 3 years full-time fire safety experience; or Bachelor's degree by time of appointment plus 1 year full-time fire safety experience
- New York State Codes Enforcement Certificate, or be eligible to attain certification within the first year of employment
- Excellent communication and computer skills
- Must be physically able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to work occasional evening and weekend emergency response
- Knowledge, training and experience in NFPA Codes and Standards, fire alarm and fire protection systems, fire service administration, code enforcement, and emergency response

In addition to providing compliance, we are responsible for the design and implementation of programs that enhance faculty, students, and staff with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to have a safe and enjoyable experience both on and off campus.
