Director of Institutional Research/Chief Data Officer
Ability to extract and analyze large data sets used to establish and address institutional priorities, assess institutional performance and improve institutional outcomes. Produce reports and presentations that easily display and summarize data in graphic and narrative format relative to student characteristics, faculty and staff demographics, enrollment, retention and graduation trends, research and scholarship productivity, etc. Define, develop and implement data warehouses, data marts, dash board indices and other data structures needed to support automated reporting. Provide training and technical support to institutional research personnel to further the understanding of data, data extraction and analysis, data limitations and the appropriate uses of data. Ability to work across locations and departments in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position and in assisting researchers in interpreting and utilizing data as needed. Skilled in establishing and maintaining a system for receiving and responding to both regular and ad hoc data requests. Knowledge of current issues and trends in higher education which impact institutional effectiveness. Ability to create a synergistic relationship with faculty, staff and administrators which supports the identification and utilization of data in program design, implementation and evaluation. Ability to maintain and regularly update institutional research website for both internal and external use.
