General Summary of Position:
The School of Criminology and Justice Studies at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for two lecturer positions to teach within its online and on campus programs. The appointment is expected to begin at the start of the Fall 2018 semester, although may be eligible for a start date of January 2018.

The School of Criminology & Justice Studies is housed in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, and is among the largest and most robust units of the University. The School enrolls over 1,200 students across its various academic programs, which include a Bachelor's degree, two Master's degrees, a Ph.D. degree, and graduate-level certificates in six specialized areas. The School features an interdisciplinary cadre of 19 full time faculty, with expertise in a wide range of criminology and criminal justice domains.

Lecturers fill a vital role within the School, with an emphasis on teaching, student advising, student success initiatives, and other forms of service to the School, College, and University. The teaching load is three courses per semester, including those delivered both online and on-campus. The position is renewable annually based on excellence in teaching and service. Lecturer starting salaries are highly competitive and are commensurate with years of teaching experience, with the range comparable to that of assistant professors within the School. Following six years of service, lecturers are eligible for promotion to the position of Senior Lecturer, which offers additional job security and salary ranges comparable to those of associate professors within the School.

Successful candidates will have a record of success in teaching at the college level, and expertise in core areas related to criminology and/or criminal justice policy and practice. Candidates with professional experience in the criminal justice field are particularly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
-Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or related field, completed by time of appointment
-At least one year of classroom teaching experience at a 4-year college or university in a criminal justice and/or criminology program
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
-Experience in departmental service roles which involve advising and mentoring a diverse student population

Other Considerations:
-Relevant professional experience in criminal justice practice and/or policy
