Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering seeks qualified candidates for a research associate position with experience in both of the following areas: micro/nanofabrication of soft materials for constructing fluidic interfaces to biosystems and microfluidic impedance cytometry for single-cell analysis. The researcher in this position will work with a cross disciplinary group of researchers within engineering, chemistry and the medical school to drive the development of devices and instrumentation related to a number of research projects in areas of label-free cell cytometry, tissue engineering, transplant therapies, and biomolecular analysis.

It is required that the candidate has previously performed high-quality microfabrication research in a clean room setting and has conducted some level of fluidic device integration. Preference will be given to candidates who also have familiarity in the following areas: impedance analysis, development of electrochemical sensors, analog circuit design related to acquiring biosignals and image/ signal analysis within microfluidic device systems.

Candidates must have a PhD in chemistry, materials science, bioengineering, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering by the appointment start date.

Salary will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidates. This is a one-year appointment; however, appointments may be renewed for additional one-year increments, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
