Job Description
The Department of Theatre & Dance within the College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a nine month, full-time, non-tenure track Instructor of Dance to begin August 16, 2017. Responsibilities include teaching ballet technique, pointe, restaging and/or choreographing original works for Dance program productions, and attending program and department faculty meetings. Additional responsibilities may include teaching one or more of the following: improvisation and composition, choreography, dance pedagogy, contemporary dance practices (based upon expertise), and/or supervising student creative/research projects. This is a nine-month, annual appointment contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding. The teaching load will be either four courses per semester or nine credit hours per semester.


Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have a national/international profile, extensive experience as a performing artist, a significant record of teaching in the field, extensive training and experience in the area of ballet, and a substantial background in staging repertory.


Preferred Qualifications
An M.A. or M.F.A. in Dance preferred. Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
