This position is located in Analytics, Systems & Applications (ASA), within the division of Information Resources & Technology (IRT).

Position Description:

  • Reporting analysts are expected to develop solid knowledge of Rowan University's systems of record, database functionality and processes. They expertly utilize systems and reporting tools to produce operational reports and strategic views of data.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop standard and ad-hoc reports utilizing Cognos and multiple data sets.
  • Utilizes SQL with Oracle, and other tools to create effective reports.
  • Participate in team code reviews and quality checks.
  • Works with colleagues to develop dashboard solutions for high-level analyses.
  • Works with ASA team and the Rowan community to ensure Banner and EDW/ODS data integrity.
  • Creates and maintains documentation for all new and revised reports.


  • Some evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required for this position. Education and Experience Qualifications (Required):
    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
    • One (1) year of experience in developing reports in a complex applications environment.
    • NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute applicable professional experience on a year-for-year basis. Therefore, to qualify under the substitution allowance at this level, candidates must possess a total of five (5) years of applicable experience.
    Education and Experience Qualifications (Preferred):
    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
    • Two (2) years of experience in developing reports in a complex applications environment.
    • NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute applicable professional experience on a year-for-year basis. Therefore, to qualify under the substitution allowance at this level, candidates must possess a total of six (6) years of applicable experience.
    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    • Ability to write complex SQL inquiries
    • Strong analytical and data management skills
    • Demonstrated experience using any Business Intelligence reporting tool (Cognos preferred)
    • Aptitude to plan, organize, and work on multiple tasks simultaneously an in multidisciplinary teams
    • Higher education experience a plus.
