Associate Vice President - Outreach and Economic and Community Development

Coordinates civic and corporate outreach of all university divisions; establishes and oversees outreach relationships for economic and community development; provides administrative direction for The Center for Professional and Continuing Education, Turning Point, Concurrent Enrollment, Office of Career and Technical Education, satellite campuses and instructional extension sites, Business Resource Center (BRC); coordinates the gathering of information about regional educational needs (credit and non-credit, certificates through master programs); leads university-wide efforts to proactively address those needs and accelerate regional business and community development; oversees business incubation and acceleration and commercialization of intellectual property and technology; and sustains fulfillment of UVU's dual community college and university mission.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master’s degree in a related field and seven years of related experience within higher education in a strategic leadership role, including management of departments and programs.

  • Knowledge of outreach education and philosophy.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated the ability to work with local and state leaders, organizations, and networks.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, local, and UVU policies, procedures, practices, laws, and regulations pertaining to community colleges, universities, academic programming and economic and community development.
  • Understanding of UVU’s dual community college and university mission.
  • Knowledge of professional and continuing education operations.
  • Knowledge of best practices in staff management and mentoring.
  • Skills in enabling senior executives in business, higher education, education, and government to collaborate.
  • Skills in professional networking.
  • Skills in clearly communicating information, expectations, and ideas to individuals and groups formally and informally, orally and in writing.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, poise, and professionalism.
  • Skills in managing meetings, budgets, and personnel.
  • Strong aptitude with standard office productivity software, which must include MS Office programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and manage people of various backgrounds and skill sets.

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree and a minimum of five years of recent experience in a related field within higher education in a strategic leadership role, including management of departments and programs

Physical Requirements:
Occasional evening work.
Travel throughout a three-county region.
