Professor of Practice Position Academic Year 2017-2018

University of San Diego, an independent Catholic University, seeks applicants for a Professor of Practice faculty member to teach and advise students in the Counseling program (emphasis in School Counseling specialization), in the Department of Counseling & Marital and Family Therapy (CMFT) at USD's School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES). This position is a two-year contracted position, but the individual would be eligible to apply to any tenure-line positions that may be open for a future search, and/or possible extension of this contracted position.

Requirements for the position include:
• Teaching experience at the graduate level with excellent evaluations from students and peers;
• Commitment to departmental priorities including social justice, diversity and inclusion, and evidence-based counseling practices; Candidates should describe how they bring diversity and inclusion into their teaching, advising, and scholarly work:
• Counseling practice experience;
• Ability to advise students on graduate research projects and career trajectories.

Specific responsibilities to include:
• Teaching a 3/4 course load per academic year – three courses one semester and four courses the other semester (Fall & Spring). Teaching will include practicum or fieldwork supervision.
• Individual and group student advising regarding practicum placements, career paths.
• Contributions to university, school, and departmental service including program outreach, student orientation, admissions reviews and interviews, and other activities to be determined.

Academic qualifications:
• PREFERRED - Doctoral degree in Counseling with preference for CACREP accredited doctoral training in counselor education.
• REQUIRED – Master's degree in Counseling required. Experience as a School Counselor preferred.
