Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Research and draft speeches for the president; Coordinate media communications and media relations for the institution; Develop and maintain a social media presence for the institution and the president;Hire, develop, supervise and evaluate SAPMSC staff; Maintain the website with special support for the home page, news archive, a master calendar and the president's office web presence; Ensure that vision, mission and guiding principles are appropriately captured in messaging; Ensure the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communications plan; Establish a university-wide marketing and communications committee that will set strategic communications goals for all recruitment, messaging, awareness, fundraising and branding activities; Assist administrators, directors, faculty and staff in identifying and packaging departmental and university marketable assets (news, expertise, applied research, community engagement, etc.); Conduct media training for senior leaders and others as appropriate; Develop rapport with the media and establish a mutual understanding of the institution's vision, mission and priorities; Use various communication platforms to inform the public of the university's innovative programs, positive developments, employee promotions, personal achievements, retirements, student success and other areas that support the communications goals and priorities of the institution; Coordinate responses to requests for information from the media; Serve as spokesperson or information source to media on behalf of the President; Study the university's strategic plan, goals and objectives, promotional policies, and needs of the university to develop public relations strategies and enhance recruitment endeavors; Develop marketing materials; Oversee development and production of the videos and other marketing products; Plan and conduct market and public opinion research to test mechanisms and determine potential for marketing success, communicating results to administration; Develop measurable goals; Perform other job-related duties as directed .
