FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college of 17,000 students in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mechanical Engineering Technology at the Assistant Professor level, to begin during the Spring or Fall 2017 semesters.

The Mechanical Engineering Technology department has a full time faculty of nine, supplemented with part time faculty members. It offers Associate in Applied Science degrees (AAS) in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Industrial Design Technology and a baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in areas such as manual and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) manufacturing, product design, rapid prototyping, machine design, Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), as well as conduct research, develop new courses, and engage in service activities. Teaching areas will include: Advanced manufacturing processes (manual and CNC), Advanced CAD/CAM, and simulation/animation.

QUALIFICATIONS

A PhD is strongly preferred. Prior teaching or industrial experience in mechanical engineering and manufacturing, proficiency with CAD/CAM/CNC, and Finite Elements is essential. Candidates with a minimum of a master's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology (or closely related field) plus a PE license who have strong industry experience can be considered. The Mechanical Engineering Technology program is accredited by ETAC/ABET.
