Job Description
Develops and conducts regional and statewide legal training for Department of Social Services child welfare and legal staff. In selected counties assigned to this position, assesses needs and develops and conducts targeted training.

Must have substantial knowledge of federal and state child protection statutes, related case law, court rules, and practices. Must be familiar with DSS programs and procedures. Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in both oral and written communications. Must have excellent research and writing skills, along with capacity for critical thinking. Must have ability to develop and adapt curriculum, adjusting to different learning styles and using a variety of learning activities. Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated, while also having proven ability to be a productive and collaborative team member.

Minimum Qualifications
Law degree, membership in the S.C. Bar, and five years of experience as a practicing attorney in family court, including child protection proceedings.

Preferred Qualifications
Strongly prefer prior training or teaching experience.
