The Senior Program Manager is part of the Global Programs Operations group, and the overall Global Programs Support team, providing support to BU faculty, staff and students conducting educational, research, service, or professional services abroad. Reporting to the Managing Director, Operations, the Senior Program Manager manages the Global Programs regulatory compliance program and supports the operations team efforts in conducting research and reporting of data related to BU’s global operations. The Senior Program Manager develops and enhances tools and training programs to guide departments; including providing the tools they need to ensure compliance with regulations affecting their international projects. The Senior Program Manager also provides support to faculty and staff in the development of international projects.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:

Assists the Managing Director, Operations, Assistant Director, Operations and the Director, Operations, Study Abroad in managing the Global Programs regulatory compliance program in over 17 countries. (30%) On a regular basis monitors and communicates on regulatory deadlines with University legal registrations, corporate and tax filings, and institutional agreements for sites, and coordinates with staff in Boston and on site to ensure compliance with other third party contracts, facilities, and health and safety regulations.
Maintains the University database of all regulatory documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness of that documentation.
Maintains the Global Programs compliance calendar.
Works with Global Programs and other teams to assess operational risks, and identifies and implements strategies to mitigate those risks.
Provides support to the Global Programs Operations team in conducting research and reporting of data related to global operations. (30%)
Conducts research related to global regulatory changes or needs which may impact BU’s existing or proposed global activities;
Conducts research as part of due diligence for new global partnerships or vendors, including the review of U.S. sanctioned and consolidated screening lists.
Works with the Global Programs Program Data Analyst and others to develop reports on the University’s global activities and collaborations;
Assists the Managing Director, Operations and the Assistant Director, Operations in project support. (20%)
Conducts initial review of operational elements within international project proposals submitted through Provost or Sponsored Programs approval mechanisms.
Assesses international project operational needs and risks, working closely with operations units across campus such as legal, finance, risk management, sourcing, export controls, and research administration.
Working with the Managing Director, Operations and the operations team members, coordinates and maintains the operations team training and communications efforts. (20%)
Maintains all documentation related to Global Programs training and outreach efforts, including the schedule, programming and presentation materials.
Conducts annual review of global operations-related Global Programs website pages and print materials, such as program and travel checklists, coordinating updates with the Global Programs communication teams as needed;
Provides regular report of the global operations training efforts.
Participates in global operations training and communications efforts as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree required, a graduate degree preferred. Three years of progressive professional work experience, including work with international research or educational programs. Exceptional critical thinking and data analysis skills, detail oriented, and ability to synthesize complex and conflicting information. Demonstrated ability to assess and articulate operational practices and risks, gaps and potential improvements. Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills. Extensive experience with Microsoft Suite including Excel; Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, Word, experience with SharePoint, PowerBI, and Qualtrics a plus. Foreign language proficiency a plus.
