About the Position
The College of International and Extended Studies (CIES) offers programs dedicated to Access, International Programs, and Innovation. CIES' programs provide access to San José State University courses, degrees and certificates for students in Silicon Valley and from around the world.
Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Marketing, Communications, and Outreach in the College of International and Extended Studies (CIES), the Associate Director oversees international student recruitment activities and facilitates international collaborations and partnerships by identifying and developing partnerships, programs, and resources globally. The incumbent grows qualified international student applicant pool, supports the yielding of international students to enroll at San José State University (SJSU), and represents SJSU internationally.
The Associate Director plans, organizes, and executes recruitment and outreach strategies for credit and non-credit programs as well as for degree-seeking international students. As a part of the overall enrollment strategies for international students at SJSU, the Associate Director has responsibilities that span across the entire enrollment cycle from recruitment through successful enrollment, to include strategic marketing and communications.
In addition, s/he cultivates relationships with partners and agents (current and potential) and other educational professionals who work with international students. The Associate Director identifies potential agreements with educational institutions and governmental entities with a focus on beneficial outcomes for SJSU.
The Associate Director works to execute the goals for the International Recruitment and Partnership (IRP) unit as defined by the Senior Director of Marketing, Communications, and Outreach. Finally, the incumbent serves as a work lead for the international advisors and recruiters in the unit, providing direction and defining work activities in order to meet the goals and strategic plans.
