Summary of Duties:
The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine (ESFCOM) at Washington State University is a next generation, community based medical school designed to train students to be physician leaders, who innovate, adapt and discover in an ever-changing healthcare landscape. The School seeks an Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion to join the school in its mission of preparing insightful and compassionate physicians who will lead and advance the delivery of care.

The Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion (ADDI) will play a key role in leading the effort to identify and recruit individuals consistent with ESFCOM's diversity and inclusion mission. The individual will be responsible for developing policies, processes and programs which lead to a diverse faculty, staff and student body.

The ADDI will promote an environment of inclusion through the development, delivery and evaluation of diversity and inclusion training programs, events and activities for ESFCOM's faculty, students and staff.

The ADDI will provide leadership and vision for the diversity and inclusion efforts of the School. S/he will foster a culture of inclusion through a commitment to institutional fairness and equality, and through intentional celebration of the strengths and assets of a multicultural community.

Reporting Structure: The ADDI reports to the Dean of the College of Medicine for purposes of leading the overall diversity and inclusion policies, recruitment and retention programs and cultivating an environment of inclusion at the college, and to the Vice Dean of Academic and Community Partnerships for campus and pipeline work.

Required Qualifications:
PhD, EdD or MD or equivalent.

At least 5 years experience in leadership positions.

Experience and/or training in the development of diverse student bodies and/or institutional workforces.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Skill in operationalizing complex initiatives requiring human, financial and material resources

Skill in managing multiple projects

Skill in interviewing prospective employment candidates

Demonstrated creative problem solver, with ability to innovate and build consensus around proposed solutions

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to advocate for change
