Summary of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Research Associate conducts fundamental and applied research on grapevine viruses. The primary responsibilities of the position are to contribute to on-going projects related to detection and molecular characterization of viruses, molecular biology and epidemiology of closteroviruses infecting grapevines, and impacts of grapevine viruses on vine health and fruit yield and quality. Must be able to conduct assigned research independently, publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present research findings at scientific and industry meetings. This position requires frequent travel to grower fields to conduct applied research and involves work in both the greenhouse and lab.
Ph.D. in Plant Virology, Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Biochemistry, or related field of study.
Proven record of expertise in any of the following areas: molecular biology of plant viruses, next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics, plant tissue culture and transformation, or genomics of host-virus interactions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to conduct research independently, publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present research findings at scientific and industry meetings.
Possess, or be able to obtain by date of hire, a valid driver’s license
