Faculty - Developmental Education (Writing & Reading)
This individual will have instructional responsibilities in the Foundational Studies Division, primarily developmental writing and secondarily reading. The individual will also be responsible for academic support assignments including, but not limited to, advising, tutoring, tutor training, coordination of summer “boot camp”, and/or other related service in the Foundational Studies Learning Center.
Load, Working Hours, and Academic Support Assignments
This hybrid faculty position carries an instructional load of 18 credits per year plus requires a predetermined schedule of office and/or laboratory hours.
Required Education and/or Experience
1. Hold a Master's degree in Education, Developmental Education, or Adult Education (or an equivalent degree) with a concentration in language arts and/or writing.
2. Hold a Reading Specialist certification, or a higher credential in the teaching of reading, or have completed 12 graduate hours in the teaching of reading.
3. Have at least two years of college developmental teaching experience within the past five years, or its equivalent in high school or literacy instruction and/or tutoring.
